German far-right party fined for accounting irregularities

A court has upheld the German parliament's decision to fine a far-right party for accounting irregularities but halved the amount it must pay.

The National Democratic Party appealed to the Berlin administrative court against the fine of around $3.4 million imposed in March. The court ruled Friday that the fine was justified but too high, and decreased the amount. The National Democratic Party has no seats in the federal parliament but is represented in two of Germany's 16 state legislatures. (AP)
