The security forces on Thursday thwarted two separate attempts to target Israel Defense Forces soldiers and Border Guard officers in the West Bank. There were no reports of injuries. Three Palestinian women were arrested.
The first incident took place at the Birzeit checkpoint near the city of Ramallah, as Palestinian woman arrived at a military barrier with an unsheathed knife. She was arrested by the soldiers and taken in for questioning.
In the second incident, a Palestinian woman arrived at the Cave of the Patriarchs in Hebron. After a 8-centinmeter (3-inch) knife was found in her possession during a security check at a Border Guard post, the woman hurled the knife at the officers.
A similar knife was found in the possession of a young girl who accompanied the woman. The two Palestinians were arrested.
On Wednesday, Border Guard officers discovered an 11-centimeter (4-inch) knife on the body of a Palestinian man near the Cave of the Patriarchs. The knife was confiscated and the man was handed over to the police for questioning.
