Lieberman undergoes 5th interrogation

Foreign minister questioned for more than five hours, faces claims that he interfered with probe

Fifth interrogation: Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman was questioned under warning Wednesday for five and a half hours at the National Fraud Squad's offices. For the first time in the ongoing probe, investigators confronted Lieberman with the claim that he interfered with the probe against him.

Police officials told Lieberman that by approaching people and companies involved in the case he has interfered with the probe.

Meanwhile, several of Lieberman's close associates, who had been detained in the past, have been ordered to submit to yet another interrogation.

The investigating team presented various questions to Lieberman regarding the suspicion that he received a bribe via the consulting firm where his daughter worked. The foreign minister is also suspected of fraud and breach of trust offences.

Among other things, Lieberman was questioned about funds transferred to a company in Cyprus and from there to his associates. In additions, investigators suspect that during the years Lieberman was not a Knesset member he received hundreds of thousands of shekels from various businesspeople.

The investigative team focused mostly on supplementing previous interrogations, and it appears that the latest questioning session would be the last one before the material is handed over to the Prosecutor's Office, ahead of a possible indictment.
