Yitzhak Buhbut of the eastern town of Beit She'an confessed to stabbing his wife, Revital, to death early Friday.

Police on an undercover operation spotted Yitzhak Buhbot running towards a ravine in town and gave chase, detaining him after a short pursuit. He was covered in blood, and led the detectives to his wife's body. The couple has seven children, aged one to 13, and all were at home during the murder. One of the couple's girls called the neighbors after the murder, a paramedic said.

The husband told investigators he killed his wife because he suspected that she was cheating on him. Police said the family was known to welfare services in town, and the wife was suspected in the past of offences involving domestic violence. The husband has no record of violence, police said.

As police arrested Buhbut, Magen David Adom ambulance service received a call regarding an injured woman.

"The neighbors called us. We arrived at the house and saw many bloodstains at the entrance," Paramedic Wissam Zuabi said. "We followed the stains to the bedroom, and there, on the floor, we discovered a shocking sight. The woman was lying in a huge poll of blood, stabbed in the abdomen and chest. We could do nothing but pronounce her dead."

Following the murder, plain-clothed police officers arrived at the apartment in order to take the sleeping children to neighbors' homes so they do not get frightened when they wake up and discover police in their home.
