Going to Jail: A British court sent three Israelis involved in a major drug smuggling bid to prison Thursday.
The three Israelis, involved in a the multi-million drug bust, were detained along with suspects from Pakistan and Serbia after their ship – packed with 12.5 tons of hashish – was seized at the Southampton port in 2008.
The smuggling ring comprised 13 people from various countries, and police in Israel assisted their British counterparts in the investigation.
Moshe Kedar, 81, who was the ship's captain, was sentenced to nine years in prison. He was recruited to the mission by Yehezkel Srebro, 57, and Mordechai Hersh, 67, who were sentenced to nine and eight years, respectively.
Srebro and Hersh have already served lengthy prison terms in the past, after an ecstasy production plant they established in Holland was uncovered.
