Shots fired at IDF force on Gaza border

Palestinians open fire at soldiers patrolling area near northern Strip; no injuries reported among soldiers and no damage caused

Another attempt to target IDF soldiers on Gaza border: Palestinians opened fire Thursday morning at an Israeli force patrolling the area near the northern Gaza Strip, opposite Kibbutz Be'eri.

The force fired back with mortar shells. There were no injuries among the soldiers and no damage was caused.

A terror attack was thwarted in the area on Monday, after the IDF killed four Palestinian gunmen who fired at a Golani force south of the Karni crossing.

Military sources said that Monday's incident was the most complicated one the soldiers have had to deal with since the end of Operation Cast Lead.

An investigation revealed that the gunmen who tried to hurt the soldiers were affiliated with al-Qaeda. They arrived on several trucks with at least five horses loaded with explosive devices and mines. They may have planned to kidnap a soldier.
