The South Korean government recently offered Israel to sign a special agreement that would enable young Israelis to work in Korea legally for several months and then tour the country with the money they saved.

South Korea has a "Work and Travel" agreement with a small number of countries, including the United States, Canada and Australia.

In light of the recent improvement in the relations between Israel and South Korea, the latter proposed the signing of a similar, mutual agreement with Israel, under which young Israelis will be allowed to work in the country for a period of two months-one year (depending on what the final deal stipulates), and afterwards travel in the East Asian country for several additional months.

Young South Koreans will be allowed to do the same in Israel.

The South Korean Ambassador to Israel Mr. Young-Sam told Yedioth Ahronoth that "There is much admiration for Israel in South Korea and a lot of demand for young Israelis."

Foreign Ministry Deputy Director for Asia and the Pacific Ruth Kahanov added, "We certainly support Israel signing this agreement, because it will contribute to bringing young people from the two countries closer together.

"It's another indication of the friendship between the countries and an interesting way for cultural exchange."
