US citizen denies terror charges in UAE court

None

A US citizen of Lebanese origin has denied terrorism-related charges against him in the United Arab Emirates supreme court. Naji Hamden told the UAE federal judge Sunday that he was tortured in a UAE prison. He says he signed a confession under pressure because he wanted the "beatings to stop."

Hamden denied all the three charges against him. They include: supporting terrorism, participating in the work of terrorist organizations, and being a member of a terrorist group. US civil rights organizations allege that Hamden has been interrogated, detained and tried in the UAE at the request of the U.S. government. (AP)
