Obama, not persuasive enough

What about the Palestinians?

President Obama has been very persuasive, except for Palestinian front

In order for one to be considered a truly persuasive individual, one needs to be able to persuade anyone out there, not just some of the people.

United States President Barack Obama is close to getting there. He managed to convince the Americans to support him and endorse his presidential bid. Next, he convinced them to support his plan of transferring huge sums of money to the coffers of American banks, in order to save them from collapse.

Next, Obama managed to convince Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to recognize the right of the Palestinians to an independent state of their own (yes, demilitarized, he insisted on demilitarization.)

Next, Obama was able to convince the Palestinians to…hmm…wait a moment; what did he in fact convince the Palestinians to do? What kind of positions did he manage to force them to adopt?

What role did the Palestinians take upon themselves in the framework of Obama’s attempt to reshuffle the deck?

Did the Palestinians commit themselves o putting an end to arms smuggling operations? Did they pledge to grant Israeli officials access to abducted IDF soldier Gilad Shalit, who has been in captivity for three years now? Are the Palestinians now willing to recognize Israel’s right for an independent state here?

If President Obama possesses both a vision and the courage to put it into practice, and if he also possesses the persuasion abilities that former US presidents did not have, why does it all stop when it comes to the Palestinians?
