German Chancellor Angela Merkel has called the right to demonstrate "very important" in remarks backing the ongoing protests in Iran against the alleged outcome of the June 12 presidential vote.
Merkel stressed Thursday in an address at a meeting of Islamic leaders in Germany that a recount of the disputed vote is a "very important matter." In remarks directed to "all in Iran who seek to demonstrate peacefully," Merkel said "We stand beside you." (AP)
