Italy has granted visas to Iranians seeking to flee violence at home and wants the European Union to adopt a common policy on how to assist them, the Italian foreign minister said Saturday.
Italy hosted a meeting of foreign ministers from Group of Eight countries where Iran was a key focus. The group of industrialized nations deplored the violent crackdown on protesters that followed Iran's presidential elections, but kept the door open for dialogue on the country's nuclear program.
