2010 trial set for first Guantanamo defendant
A September 2010 trial has been set for a Guantanamo detainee charged in the 1998 bombings of two US embassies in Africa.
Federal judge Lewis Kaplan in Manhattan set the Sept. 13, 2010 trial date at a Thursday hearing for Ahmed Ghailani. Authorities allege he was a bomb-maker, document forger and aide to Osama bin Laden. The attacks at embassies in Tanzania and Kenya killed 124 people, including 12 Americans. (AP)
