Finance Committee okays budget, Arrangements Act

Biennial budget proposal and its traditional addendum get committee's approval ahead of second, third Knesset vote

The Knesset's Finance Committee green-lighted the 2009-2010 budget bill Wednesday, as well as the Arrangements Act – the budget's traditional addendum.

 

The state budget for the 2009 fiscal years was set at NIS 316.5 billion, while its 2010 counterpart was set at NIS 325 billion ($80.07 billion and $82.18 billion respectively).

The budget bill and Arrangement Act are to be presented to the Knesset next, for their second and third readings.

 

The bills also stipulate that government manpower allocation for 2009 will stand at 60,576 jobs, and in 2010 it would stand at 61,840 jobs – a, additional 1,300 jobs.

 

The Finance Committee also approved the controversial "Drought Tax", as well as a bill regarding the employment of foreign workers in construction.
