Hamas: Leadership unaware of Shalit's condition
Hamas leader in charge of the Shalit portfolio, Osama al-Muzeini, said that only a very exclusive circle within the organization's military arm is updated as to the location and condition of kidnapped Israeli soldier Gilad Shalit. Al-Muzeini said that this exclusive group is compartmentalized and does not have any contact with outside sources out of security considerations.
Al-Muzeini noted that since the end of Operation Cast Lead, the Hamas leadership has not been updated as to Shalit's health. "We don't know if he is wounded, sick, or dead. This is the truth. This is not Hamas' tactic," he said. (Ali Waked)
