Magnitude 6.0 earthquake hits southern Peru

The US Geological Service is reporting that an earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 6.0 has struck southern Peru.
The service says earthquake struck at 1:12 am (0612 GMT) Sunday, 35 miles (60 kilometers) northwest of the city of Juliaca. (AP)
