Ex-IDF chief: Lebanon war not directly connected to abductions
Former IDF Chief of Staff Dan Halutz, who led the IDF during the Second Lebanon War, said Sunday that "given the same data and situation today, I still would have recommended the same course of action."
Halutz added that the decision to launch the Lebanon campaign was not derived directly from the kidnapping of IDF soldiers Eldad Regev and Ehud Goldwasser, but "was based on the need to mount a forceful campaign." (Tal Rabinovsky)
