Hezbollah says planned ILA reform 'perpetuates Nakba'

Shiite organization denounced newly-passed bill calling for reformation in Israel Land Administration, says it 'validates the crime of land theft from Palestinian refugees.' Group also slams UN, EU for being part of 'disgraceful scheme'; censures Arab nations 'helplessness'

The controversial Israel Land Administration (ILA) reform bill, which became a law after passing its second and third Knesset reading on Monday has riled Hezbollah Chief Sheikh Hassan Nasrallah, Ynet learned Saturday.

The Shiite group published a statement declaring that the new law "validates and perpetuates the crime of land and property theft from the Palestinian refugees of the 1948 Nakba."

"Nakba", or "catastrophe", is the term used to refer to the refugee flight of Palestinian Arabs that followed Israel's inception.

Hezbollah's statement went on to condemn "the series of Zionist crimes… perpetrated with America's support." The terror group goes on to denounce "the disgraceful scheme by the international community and the United Nations and European Union's human rights agencies."

The Arab nations were censured as well, for their "helplessness in the face of the elimination of Arab rights in occupied Palestine."

The new law, which has been slammed as discriminatory, prompted the Higher Arab Monitoring Committee to petition both Knesset Speaker Reuven Rivlin and Attorney General Menachem Mazuz, demanding they work to annul the legislation.
