One of Israel’s most prestigious and highly acclaimed music festivals is the annual Jerusalem International Chamber Music Festival which will be held from Monday August 31, 2009 through September 12, 2009.

In the words of Artistic Director, Elena Bashkirova:

“Although none of these composers really need an anniversary in order to be performed, it is a wonderful chance to broaden our horizons and listen to their music and delve deeper into their creative processes.”

No less than 62 international and Israeli artists will be performing in the Festival of 13 concerts held on consecutive days. A full schedule of events is available on the Festival website: www.jcmf.org.il

All concerts will be held at the YMCA Concert Hall, King David Street, Jerusalem commencing 7.30 pm on week nights, 1.00pm Fridays and 8.15pm Saturdays.

Writing in Yediot Aharonot in 2008, music critic Hanoch Ron had the following comments to offer:

“Bashkirova is presenting superb programs that include combinations of well-known works together with the new, the exciting and the unknown. A wonderful mixture. An opportunity not to be missed.”
