Intoxicated 13-year old bites policeman

Youth caught red-handed attempting to break into Netanya deli attacks arresting officers

A 13-year old boy from Netanya has been arrested on suspicion that he broke into various businesses in the city's center while intoxicated, and then attacked and bit officers attempting to arrest him.

On Saturday afternoon Netanya police received a call reporting that someone was breaking into a deli on one of the city's main streets.

Police arrived on the scene to catch the youth still holding a brick with which he had shattered the deli's window.

"We went up to the boy in order to detain him for questioning," Officer Tomer Duk recounted. "In response he began to run wild. He bit my hand, threatened, and cursed at us. His breath smelled strongly of alcohol. We managed to get him under control and to cuff him."

Police then evacuated the youth to a nearby hospital as he had been injured by shards of glass. He was then taken in for questioning, where police discovered he was under house arrest and therefore had been violating the law by going out onto the street.

The officers searched his person and discovered dozens of checks, receipts, and cash suspected to have been stolen from various places of business. The youth is currently suspected of having broken into two additional shops in Netanya.
