Virus resistant to Tamiflu found in Israel

The Health Ministry's Central Laboratory for Viral Infections identified a strand of H1N1 that showed signs of resistance to the Tamiflu drug used to treat swine flue. The strand was isolated from a sample taken from a swine flu patient in a high risk group that completely recovered from the virus.

The Health Ministry said lab tests were ongoing. Strands resistant to Tamiflu have been identified around the world, but so far, all have been treatable with the Relenza drug. (Meital Yasur – Beit Or)
