A Jewish youth opened fire at two Arabs in a parking lot in Jerusalem's Old City on Friday evening. The two Arabs, residents of the Silwan neighborhood in east Jerusalem, were lightly wounded and were evacuated to the Hadassah Mount Scopus Hospital in the capital.

The shooter was arrested near Dung Gate and told his investigators that he had fired at the two – a 40-year-old man and a 13-year-old boy – after feeling threatened.

The incident took place shortly after 6 pm. The Jew, in his 20s, claimed during his interrogation that he had been attacked by six people
and had opened fire at them using a rifle in his possession. He said he had felt threatened by the fact that Arabs were standing next to him.

Following the incident, Silwan residents began hurling stones at police forces dispatched to the area and at Jews' houses. An Arab man was lightly injured by a stone and was also evacuated to the Hadassah Hospital. The stone throwing stopped shortly afterwards and order was restored.
