More than 2.6 million tourists visited Israel in outgoing Jewish year
In the last Jewish calendar year, more than 2.6 million tourists visited Israel, according to data published by the Tourism Ministry. The ministry is preparing to receive some 270,000 tourists slated to visit the Holy Land during the Jewish holidays.
According to figures from the Central Bureau of Statistics, the number of tourists visiting Israel in August 2009 is similar to figures for the same period of the previous year, which was a record year for incoming tourism. Some 260,000 tourists visited Israel last month, only 2% less than August 2008 figures. (Ynet)
