Report: Clinton pressured Abbas not to support Goldstone Report
US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton telephoned Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas to ask him not to support the content of the Goldstone Report, which investigated Operation Cast Lead in the Gaza Strip. She claimed that doing so would widen the gaps between Israel and the Palestinian Authority, according to a report on Al-Jazeera's website.
According to the report, Abbas was under immense pressure from Palestinian Prime Minister Salam Fayyad, who spurred him to withdraw the PA's consent that the report be adopted by the UN. (Roi Kais)
