WASHINGTON- While support for US President Barack Obama in Israel is at an all-time low, American Jews continue to be the number one supporters of the President among the American public.
According to a survey published by Gallup Poll during the weekend, 64% of US Jews support Obama, compared with only 52% of all Americans.
During the elections in November 2008, 78% of US Jews voted for Obama, a number much higher than that of the general public's support.

AJC survey shows most Jews are in favor of military action against nuclear sites. Despite supporting Obama in presidential elections, Jews are unhappy with his attitude towards Israel
During the past few weeks, Obama's approval ratings have trended downward, as often happens to presidents during the months following their inauguration. However, contrary to Israel's interpretations in regards to his popularity decrease, Obama still rallies wide scale support among the American public.
According to the Gullop poll, US Jews show higher support rates than any other religious group in the United States. While some 64% of US Jews support Obama, only 54% of Catholics, 47% of Protestants and 32% of Mormons are content with the president.
Only nonreligious Americans equal Jews in their support for the president, who also receives broad approval from US blacks and Hispanics, regardless of their religious affiliation.
Traditionally, US Jews identify with the values of the Democratic Party, however recent clashes between the Obama and Netanyahu administrations and Israel vis-à-vis the settlement construction freeze brought about uneasiness among US Jews.
