The Industry, Trade and Labor Ministry is seeking to form a new administration to cater to small and medium businesses is Israel.
Israel's Small and Medium Enterprise Authority (SMEA) was recently dissolved after the State Comptroller's Office found a series of political appointments and other improprieties within its ranks.
The Treasury, Civil Service Commission and Histadrut Labor Federation formed a joint tender committee soon after SMEA's closure. The committee is set to finish its work by mid October.
The new administration, which has yet to be named, will organize and coordinate all government services pertaining to small and medium businesses, but unlike its predecessor, it will not function as an independent agency, but rather as a sub-division of the Industry, Trade and Labor Ministry
Eighteen candidates applied for the position of the new administration's head. The list now stands at 11.
