Erdogan: We removed Israel from drill due to people's desire
Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that the decision to freeze Israel out of a joint air force drill with the United States and NATO was made "due to the nation's desire".
In an interview with al-Jazeera television, Erdogan said, "We took our people's opinion into account when we made the decision. Discussions were held with several parties and we decided that the drill would be held as planned and that Israel would not take part in it." He noted that there were "diplomatic sensitivities which must be taken into account." (AFP)
