Kobi Peretz nominated for major award in NY

Popular Mizrahi singer nominated for singer of the year in international music award ceremony in New York

After conquering one of the most sought-after venues in Caesarea, popular Mizrahi singer Kobi Peretz goes international. The singer was invited to attend the Big Apple Music Awards ceremony due to take place on November 15 in New York.

This marks the award ceremony's second year, which focuses on world music with an ethnic feel. The ceremony will be broadcast on 10 different TV channels including the UK's BBC.

Despite it being a fairly minor event for the international music industry, Peretz will be honored as being one of the nominees for the 'Singer of the Year' category, with a fair chance of winning, seeing as all his fellow nominees are equally unknown on the international level.

More importantly, the ceremony will be attended by hundreds of music industry people from the United States with the power of opening doors for rising stars.

Peretz is scheduled to perform his song "Together" with Israeli-born pop singer Ishtar and is slated to receive the 'Duet of the Year' award for that performance, thanks to the votes of millions of net surfers. The singer will also perform a song titled "All the Strength."

"I was greatly surprised with the whole matter of the competition," Peretz said. "Wining the duet category is especially exciting for me, particularly following the 'decade countdown' here in Israel which had 30,000 votes.

"This competition has about five million votes, which basically amounts to the entire country. People who don’t know me have listened to the duet and voted. After my son, it is the most beautiful present I could receive for my birthday this coming Wednesday," the singer commented.
