The prices of new apartments slid an additional 16% in September, the Central Statistics Bureau reported Sunday, after having decreased in July and August.
Altogether 1,250 new apartments were sold in September, of them 970 by members of the private sector.
However the cost of new apartments has risen by 8% this year in comparison to the January-September time period in 2008, the bureau said.
Of the housing units sold this year, 44% were in Israel's central district and 18% were in Tel Aviv.
The number of new apartments for sale by members of the private sector has fallen this in 2009 by 27% when compared to data from last year.
