Minister for Minority Affairs Avishay Braverman said on Sunday that the government's decision to allow the 1,200 children of foreign workers to complete the school year in Israel is a step to their permanent stay in the country.
The minister said he was disappointed with the government's failure to decide on the children's status and settle with the creation of a committee headed by Interior Minister Eli Yishai. "The interior minister realizes he needs to distinguish between the kids and the other illegal workers and make a humane decision." (Yael Branovsky)
