Austria: 11-year-old girl is 1st swine flu death
A girl has died in Austria of swine flu, becoming the country's first recorded fatality. The Austria Press Agency reports the 11-year-old from Italy's German-speaking South Tyrol region died Monday in a hospital in the western city of Innsbruck. She had been in intensive care for days.
Austrian Health Minister Alois Stoeger expressed his condolences to the girl's family and stressed that the Alpine republic was well prepared to deal with the disease. (AP)
