'Third Generation' theater project returns for 2nd run in Israel

Following worldwide success theater project dealing with third generation Israelis, Palestinians and Germans to hold additional series of shows in Israel after participating in festivals in Berlin, Prague

A joint project of Israel's National Habimah Theater and Berlin's Schaubühne Theater focusing on third generation Israelis, Palestinians and Germans is currently sparking interest worldwide. The play, titled "Third Generation," will be showing in Berlin this week and will be heading to Prague's international theater festival over the weekend.

The festival will showcase 10 of the most prominent German-language plays, including Woyzeck by Georg Büchner, Franz Kafka's Trial and Eugene O'Neill's Moon for the Misbegotten. Various German and Austrian theater groups are slated to take part in the event.

"Third Generation," directed by Yaeli Ronen, won great success in Israel, which led Habimah and Schaubühne managers to arrange an additional series of shows in the country this February.

The project's organizers also intend to showcase the play in Arab communities, educational establishments as well as in other cities apart from Tel Aviv.

Another joint project from the two theater groups, which is scheduled to be unveiled this year, will deal with the influence of religion on society. Ronen will act as director on this project as well.
