National Infrastructure Minister Uzi Landau announced on Thursday that a final agreement has been reached on the drought tax and the water crisis in Israel. According to the deal, water rates will rise by about 40%, gradually, by 2011.
Water rates will first 25% next January, with an additional 12.8% increase in July 2010. In January 2011 prices will rise an additional 2%. At the same time, the drought tax will be frozen starting January and through to mid-April. (Roni Sofer)
