Six protestors were detained Saturday during a demonstration against the West Bank security fence in a village near Tulkarem.

Dozens of Palestinians, Israelis, and foreign activists protested against what they claim is land confiscation in favor of the security fence. They also lamented the absence of permits for farmers seeking to work their land.

According to the protestors, 18 people were held for questioning by authorities; IDF officials said only six were detained after slightly damaging a security fence gate.

Anarchist activist Yonatan Pollack told Ynet that Saturday's protest was the opening shot in an anti-fence campaign by village residents to be complemented by a petition to the High Court of justice.

"The soldiers fired rubber-coated bullets and tear gas," he said, claiming that one of the youngsters who took part in the rally was hurt by a rubber-coated bullet.
