Report: Turkey moves 5 to rebel leader's prison

None

The private Dogan news agency says Turkey has transferred five new inmates to the prison island where Kurdish rebel leader Abdullah Ocalan has been held for years in isolation.

The Council of Europe human rights organization had demanded that Turkey end Ocalan's solitude, saying his mental state was deteriorating after spending years as the sole inmate of Imrali island, off Istanbul. The 60-year-old is serving a life sentence for leading the separatist rebel group Kurdistan Worker's Party, or PKK. He was captured in 1999. (AP)
