Pirates kill 1 sailor in rare Benin attack

Benin's naval chief says pirates have killed a Ukrainian sailor and wounded at least two crew members in a rare attack off the coast of the West African country.
Maxime Ahoyo said Tuesday pirates had attacked the Liberian-flagged oil tanker Cancale Star overnight. He said he didn't know how many there were but thought some were from neighboring Nigeria. He said the tanker had 24 crew members, mostly Ukrainian. The pirates did not gain control of the ship. (Reuters)
