Iran's nuclear negotiator has met with Hamas leaders during a visit to Syria. The militant group's deputy political leader, Moussa Abu Marzouk, said they discussed Palestinian affairs. He provided no details on Thursday's meeting with the Iranian negotiator, Saeed Jalili.
Iran provides Hamas with financial support, and Israel contends Iran is also supplying it with weapons, which Iran denies. It's not unusual for visiting Iranian officials to meet with Hamas' exiled leadership in Syria. But tensions in the region have been especially high due to Iran's escalating nuclear program. (AP)
