Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon said Monday he has chosen Kenyan environmentalist Wangari Maathai to be a UN "Messenger of Peace" to focus on climate change issues.
The ceremony appointing the 2004 Nobel Peace Prize winner to the prestigious position as a peace envoy will take place Tuesday afternoon at the climate change conference in Copenhagen, he said. (AP)
