Barak rejects publications denouncing Chief of Staff Ashkenazi

Defense Minister Ehud Barak announced that he "rejects with disgust" the publications denouncing Chief of Staff Maj. Gen. Gabi Ashkenazi over the Shalit prisoner swap deal. According to reports, an official in the Prime Minister's Office claimed that the military chief was acting like "a chairman of the soldier's parents' association."
In a statement issued by the Defense Ministry, Barak said, "Chief of Staff Gabi Ashkenazi is an esteemed fighter and commander. His positions are in accord with the IDF's values. Attacks against him on the part of the said official are worthy of all condemnation." (Ynet)
