A senior Iranian cleric called for national unity ahead of the Shiite Day of Ashura to be marked on Sunday.
During a Friday sermon in Tehran Ayatollah Ahmad Khatami said that the "mourning services should not serve the enemy's interests." His statements refer to the Iranian opposition's intention of planning an anti-regime protest during the holiday. (Dudi Cohen)
