Spain raises terrorism alert level as precaution

Spain's Interior Ministry says it has raised its terrorism alert level as a precautionary measure before taking over the European Union presidency.
The ministry says in a statement the alert was raised to the medium level of 2 from low after Interior Minister Alfredo Perez Rubalcaba warned that Basque separatists might attempt an attack to coincide with Spain's presidency. (AP)
