MK Tibi rated Israeli-Arab man of year

Three major Arab news agencies name Ahmed Tibi 2009's most popular politician, public figure

Three of the Israeli-Arab sector's most influential news agencies have dubbed United Arab List-Ta'al Chairman Ahmed Tibi as 2009's man of the year.

Tibi received about a quarter of the votes registered by participants in the 'man of the year' poll held by the Arabic Panorama, thus achieving the status of "most popular Arab politician".

In second place was MK Mohammad Barakeh, with 10% of the vote.

In the Nazareth-based Kol al-Arab Tibi won 20% of the votes and his party won 38.5%. Al-Sinara news ranked him best loved man – not only among politicians – in the Arab sector.

Tibi responded by saying that he was "proud of the results, which commit me to the continuation of daily public activity in all fields, for the benefit of the Arab sector".
