The Knesset Ethics Committee ruled that Defense Minister Ehud Barak received an unlawful benefit when he upgraded his and his wife's plane ticket from business to first class, according to a complaint submitted by Member of Knesset Uri Ariel (National Union).
The committee decided that Barak must refund the State for the worth of the upgrade. Consideration was given to Barak's claim that he was unaware at the time that he was violating procedures because he believed such a thing was permitted because of his previous position as prime minister.
