Iran: Journalist who criticized Ahmadinejad gets 7 years
A journalist known to be critical against the economic policy of Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has been sentenced to seven years and four months in prison and 34 lashes, opposition websites reported Monday.
Bahman Ahmadi Amu, who worked for the Sarmayeh newspaper, an influential business publication shut down in November, has been detained since June 20. (AFP)
