Iranian soccer official fired over email to Israel

Iran's Football Federation kicks out director of its foreign relations' office for accidentally sending New Year greeting to 'Zionist regime'

An Iranian official responsible for sending New Year greeting to Israeli Soccer Federation has been fired for sending email to “Zionist regime."

The Iranian Football Federation (IFF) sent a New Year greeting to its Israeli counterpart. When Israeli inquired, the Iranian spokesman quickly said it was a mistake.

Apparently the greeting is sent to every country but someone forgot to delete Israel from the list.

The mistake led the IFF to kick out Mohammad-Mansour Azimzadeh Ardebili, Director of IFF foreign relations’ office.

Officials in Iran claimed that the e-mail reached FIFA employee Amir Navan, an "Israeli of Iranian origin," who forwarded it to the Israel association, but Ali Ardebili admitted that the message was sent to all FIFA members and that he forgot to delete Israel.
