Knesset Speaker Reuven Rivlin (Likud) called for a code of ethics for Knesset members to be drawn up as soon as possible, to be an "arrowhead for ethical conduct in public service."
In a meeting of the Knesset Ethics Committee, Rivlin said, "The point is not to replace criminal punishment, but to keep (MKs) away from acts that may be for their own advantage and to preserve the dignity of the Knesset." (Amnon Meranda)
