MK Shalom: Likud must not abandon settlement efforts
Deputy Prime Minister Silvan Shalom met with municipal authorities of Jewish settlements in the West Bank and asserted that "Settlement of Judea and Samaria has been one of the Likud's flagship enterprises for many years, and we must not abandon it."
Shalom strongly denounced the threatening letters sent recently to Defense Minister Ehud Barak and said, "Whoever sent them must understand that he is damaging settlement efforts and the settlers." He added that he opposed the construction freeze, "but from the moment the decision was taken I was certain that we need to prepare for further construction for immediately after the end of the freeze."
