A Palestinian man driving a car suspected of being stolen on Route 60 near Bnei Naim east of Hebron was shot by Hebron District Police officers. The officers opened fire at the car's tires after the Palestinian made a U-turn that endangered the officers' lives.
The driver was wounded in his midsection and was transferred in moderate condition to Hadassah Ein Kerem Hospital in Jerusalem for medical attention. Another Palestinian riding in the car as a passenger was arrested.
The incident occurred as part of detective work being carried out by the Hebron District after they noticed a red Honda Civic suspected of being stolen traveling on the road.
According to the police, the Palestinian tried to run over the officers. The police investigation revealed that the car was stolen a few days ago in Jerusalem.
