Lebanese president visits area near Israel border

Lebanese President Michel Suleiman has visited UN peacekeepers and Lebanese troops in villages near Israel's border in his first such visit since taking office in May 2008.

The area has been peaceful since a 2006 war between Israel and Hezbollah. The Lebanese army said Suleiman's visit came hours after Lebanese troops opened fire at Israeli warplanes violating Lebanese airspace. (AP)
