Nigerian president says recovering

Nigerian President Umaru Yar'Adua said he was recovering from illness in his first interview since being hospitalized in Saudi Arabia seven weeks ago, the British Broadcasting Corporation said on Tuesday. It said he had spoken by telephone.

"At the moment I am undergoing treatment, and I'm getting better from the treatment. I hope that very soon there will be tremendous progress, which will allow me to get back home," he was quoted as saying on the BBC website. (Reuters)
