According to the annual state comptroller's report 2.9% of total army recruits are immigrants from Ethiopia. Out of all Ethiopian soldiers serving in the IDF, 8% were imprisoned in military jails, while 27% of all imprisoned soldiers are immigrants from the former Soviet Union.
The report found that some 80% of Ethiopian soldiers that served prison sentences during 2007, were sent back to prison multiple times; 16% were imprisoned four times, 6% returned to jail five times and 3% were sent back to jail six times. (Yaron Druckman)
